A Comprehensive Women's University — established 1989 in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh.

In the name of Allah

Jamia Ahsanul Banat — a private single-gender boarding Islamic University only for girls — was established in 1989 and is situated in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. The Jamia Ahsanul Banat is named after Late Haji Mohammad Ahsan Shamsi.

The institution was founded by his son Mohammad Akhtar Shamsi and daughter-in-law Ghazala Akhtar Shamsi. Mohammad Akhtar Shamsi is the present President with his wife Ghazala Akhtar Shamsi being the Senior Vice-President of the institution.

Mohammad Akhtar Shamsi is a leading industrialist and businessman in his area and holds his Degree in Commerce. He is the key financer of this institution and takes time out of his business and makes effort to help his wife run the institution. May Allah give him Jaza-E-Khair for his noble contributions.

His wife, Ghazala Akhtar Shamsi, runs the everyday operations of the institution with the help of an efficient staff. She is a house-wife, mother of three, and a strict, disciplined Muslim woman. She holds her Degree in English. She had a strict and good upbringing with regular Islamic touch and teaching in her life. Her parents had implanted Islam and its teachings in her since the very beginning.

It was these teachings that always made her feel a void in her life, and she always searched for the truth and the true mission of every Muslim. Thus, after being married and settled in her life with her husband and three healthy children, she started reading the translation of the Quran — and from this contemplation, Jamia Ahsanul Banat was born.

Mission Statement

(Insha'Allah) — to cultivate and nurture a thriving Muslim identity that balances religious, academic, and cultural knowledge while providing an atmosphere where students, staff, parents, and community members are respected, appreciated, encouraged, and supported. We strive to positively touch the lives of children so that they may become life-long learners and sensitive contributing citizens of the Nation — thus able to accomplish Allah's purpose.

Message from Co-Founder & Vice President

For years I have pondered on the role of women in Islam. How to become a complete, vibrant Muslim woman obeying Allah by being in tune with the unfolding wonder of existence? How to establish an atmosphere in which all aspects of life of a Muslim lady can be achieved by the implementation of Allah’s message? Who is more important – a male or a female?

Islam is a very natural and practical religion allowing everyone to take sanctuary in it. Nonetheless, the great amount of ignorance about Islam which is constantly being reinforced by the media and society had actually inspired me to explore this subject.

On deeply getting extensive Islamic knowledge, conducting Islamic studies and research and studying the Islamic History about the early periods of Islam, these accusations about women being suppressed, weak, lacking, deficient, inferior are not true. In fact, the women then were not like this at all. They were dynamic individuals who devoted themselves to the spread of Islam demonstrating character and care. In Islam we find lots of women active in all different parts of life.

But suddenly it all stopped! What happened? How and why things changed so much in the last few centuries? Such questions confuse us and make us curious to find answers.

Regardless of the questions and answers, AIA Educational Society is the solution to this problem. This institution is established to recreate that balanced Muslim woman that got lost somewhere in our history. Let us come together to reach this goal in a united way.

A message from the principal

On the Role of Women in Islam

"For years I have pondered on the role of women in Islam."

Islam is a very natural and practical religion — allowing everyone to take sanctuary in it. Nonetheless, the great amount of ignorance about Islam which is constantly being reinforced by the media and society had actually inspired me to explore this subject more deeply.

At Jamia Ahsanul Banat, we strive to give our daughters an environment where they can grow into complete, balanced, knowledgeable Muslim women — Mu'minat who carry their deen with confidence and contribute meaningfully to their families, their communities, and society at large.

My hope and prayer is that every student who walks through our doors leaves with not just an education — but with adab, with iman, and with a love for the deen of Allah ﷻ that will guide her for the rest of her life.

May Allah accept this humble effort, and may He continue to guide us all towards what He loves and is pleased with. Ameen.

By the grace of Almighty Allah, our institutions have been keeping the flame of knowledge alive for over 25 years.
